plain flour-based dumplings steamed with a stuffing of cabbage, carrot, and spring onion. It has become a popular street food in India and is usually served with a spicy red momos chutney. I used plain flour with enough gluten for this recipe, but you can make it healthier and easier to digest with wheat flour. The vegetable stuffing is customizable to your taste - just make sure to finely chop the veggies. For an extra touch, you can deep fry the steamed momos in hot oil - I personally prefer the deep-fried version as it's crispier and tastier.

 INGREDIENTS:-

for dough:

▢1½ cup maida / plain flour
▢½ tsp salt
▢water for kneading
▢oil for greasing

for stuffing:

▢3 tsp oil
▢3 clove garlic (finely chopped)
▢1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
▢2 chilli (finely chopped)
▢4 tbsp spring onion
▢1 cup carrot (grated)
▢2 cup cabbage (shredded)
▢½ tsp pepper (crushed)
▢½ tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS:-


Step 1 : Firstly, heat up 3 tsp of oil and sauté 3 cloves of garlic, 1 inch of ginger and 2 chillies. 

Step 2 : Then, add 2 tbsp of spring onion and fry them on high flame. 

Step 3 : After that, add 1 cup of carrot and 2 cups of cabbage and stir-fry on high flame. 

Step 4 : Now, add ½ tsp of pepper and ½ tsp of salt. 

Step 5 : Additionally, add 2 tbsp of spring onion and your stuffing is complete. 

Step 6 : Next, take a small ball of momo dough and flatten it. 

Step 7 : Then, sprinkle some maida and use a rolling pin to roll it out until it's around 4-5 inches in 
diameter, keeping the centre slightly thicker. 

Step 8 : Put a heaped spoonful of the prepared stuffing in the centre and begin to pleat the edges until 
everything is sealed together in a bundle. 

Step 9 : Heat up a steamer and arrange the momos in the tray without them touching each other. 

Step 10 : Afterwards, steam them for 10-12 minutes or until a shiny sheen appears. 

Step 11 : Finally, your veggie momo recipe is ready to serve with a delicious chutney.


NOTES:-


Firstly, Knead the dough thoroughly to ensure your momos are not chewy. Add vegetables of your choice to the momos stuffing. Always steam the momos just before you serve them - cooled momos won't taste as good. To make your veg momos really stand out, make sure to add plenty of spices and filling!
